My name is Rebecca Taylor. I am a senior majoring in Journalism at Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania. I am originally from New Castle, Pennsylvania which is only about 15 miles from Slippery Rock. I went to Penn State Shenango for two years and then transferred to the University Park campus and was there for three semesters. While I loved Penn State, and will always be a Penn Stater at heart, I missed my family and friends and boyfriend too much and made the decision to transfer to Slippery Rock. I am very glad I switched. I like Slippery Rock a lot, but more than that I love being so much closer to everyone I love. My facebook and twitter accounts are important to me for connecting with friends and family. Through sites like these I am able to see pictures of family that live far away. I have family members in the military and through sites like these me and the rest of my family are able to see pictures of them and their kids who we do not get to see in person on a regular basis. Although I am majoring in jourmalism I am going to be a wedding planner after graduation. Weddings are something I have been in love for years. I got engeged recently and I have been planning my wedding and it is almost completly planned and its been about 2 weeks. I look forward to helping other couples in the future bring their wedding dreams to life in a stress-free way. I am interested in new media journalism because I feel that that is where journalism is heading in that it will more be online and less in print. A tradition media outlet that I enjoy reading is the New York Times. I enjoy it because they cover a lot of different types of information and the stories are better written than those in my home newspaper. One new media site that I enjoy is youtube. I think that YouTube is significant because it is a way for people to share videos they have made with the world that may never have been shared. I think that the Internet is great for those who have loved ones far away. I have family members in the military and it is a big help to me and the rest of our family to be able to connect with them while they are stationed on the other side of the world or just a few states away. I am also in a long distance relationship and the Internet has helped our relationship be maintained by being able to have web chats using our web cams face to face on stickam. I think that technology is making lives easier once the person learns how to use it, and a lot of the technologies are very easy to use.
